Vivian Field Middle School's AVID classes regularly invite guest speakers to describe to 7th and 8th graders how they reached their academic and professional goals. AVID is a program that is designed to, among other benefits, expose students to the rigors of academics that lead to successfully entering and completing a four year college program. Vivian Field's program would love to see former Turner HS graduates return to a middle school classroom and relate to students who may be traveling on a very similar path as those alumni once did. Our AVID students are most likely to be the first generation of college students in their families; AVID is there for them to provide support and knowledge as they work toward that goal.
